SCIENT Students Attend Internship in Bologna, Italy

SCIENT - A European University-Business Alliance aiming to foster young SCIEntists’ ENTrepreneurial spirit – is an EU funded project taking place across eight countries including Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, Germany, England, Lithuania, Italy and Malta. The partner countries have developed an innovative and practically oriented entrepreneurship training course which is being offered in project partner countries at no cost.

Through this project, three PhD students with degrees in Physiology and Biochemistry who participated in the entrepreneurship course organised by Paragon Europe under this project, later attended an internship at ASTER in Bologna.

The internship duration was of one week and during this time, the students developed the business idea which originated during the SCIENT course. The students had mentoring sessions and visited a Science Park – the Technopole in Reggio Calabria. During the visit, the students met and networked with researchers in the Science Park.

The students, who have now returned to Malta shall continue to develop their business idea through mentoring sessions at Paragon Europe and are preparing to participate in the Business Ideas Competition happening in November 2017 in Cyprus.

The project is financed by the Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance programme of the European Commission with an overall budget of 991,778 EUR for a period of 36 months from January 2015. The project is led by GrantXpert Consulting Ltd from Cyprus and includes another 14 organisations from the eight partner countries where Malta is represented by Paragon Europe.
